Zion National Park, located in southwestern Utah, has the most diverse flora and is the most heavily visited of Utah’s Mighty Five National Parks.  Zion offers everything from sweeping vistas and challenging hikes, to quiet areas and a chance to observe the area’s natural diversity and solitude on a more personal level. While relatively small by western National Park standards, Zion offers unparalleled scenery and a tremendous amount of ecological variability due to it’s geographic setting, geology, broad elevational range, and intricate maze of canyons and their various microclimates. As you hike along the spectacular red-rock trails and canyons of Zion, the wildflowers and other native plants offer a diverse and beautiful, up-close complement to the incredible scenery.  At last count, more than 1080 different plants occur in Zion National Park. Even a quick stroll along the Pa’rus trail or hike up the Watchman Trail provides an opportunity to identify many different plants included in this app.  Spring time offers the most intense and diverse flowering period, but there is usually something flowering from March through November, and many of the plants in Zion are readily identified year-round.
